Quello composto dai logogrammi di Interstizi. Un’identità partecipata è un linguaggio che nasce dove le parole finiscono.
Un gesto collettivo guidato dall’artista Seçil Yaylalı, composto di logogrammi creati da chi attraversa Nòva, ciascuno portatore di un significato personale, legato al proprio modo di vivere lo spazio, di riconoscersi nella comunità, di raccontarsi.
Ogni segno è un mondo.
Insieme, questi segni formano una lingua inedita: una grammatica visiva fatta di memorie, affetti, tensioni e possibilità. Una lingua non preesistente, ma in divenire.
Interstizi. Un’identità partecipata è un processo.
È la prova che le forme possono nascere dall’ascolto, che il disegno può essere un incontro, e che l’identità può essere molteplice e condivisa. Nòva diventa così un luogo di narrazione collettiva, non attraverso parole dette, ma attraverso segni che ci somigliano.
A partire dai laboratori svolti a marzo e ad aprile con chi frequenta nòva come spettatore, volontario, operatore, Seçil Yaylalı ha trasformato parole, emozioni, relazioni, in logogrammi: ogni segno di Interstizi contribuisce alla nascita di un lessico visivo condiviso. I componenti dell’installazione collettiva sono poi stati creati nel Maker Space di nòva con taglio laser su plexiglass colorato.

Come è consueto nella sua ricerca artistica, Yaylalı è entrata in punta di piedi nella comunità di nòva, abitandone gli “interstizi sociali” — quegli spazi relazionali che il critico francese Nicolas Bourriaud indicava come terreno fertile dell’arte partecipativa — per ascoltare. Secondo Bourriaud infatti l'opera d'arte diventa un dispositivo per generare incontri e dialoghi, spostando l'attenzione dal prodotto finale al processo relazionale stesso. Spazi di incontro che trasformano il processo creativo in esperienza condivisa, in cui riflettere su di sé, sulla propria relazione con lo spazio e con le persone che lo vivono.

“L’arte è un insieme di pratiche interpersonali che si sviluppano nello spazio sociale e contribuiscono a migliorare l’esperienza collettiva della realtà”. In quest’ottica, diventa evidente come un’estetica partecipativa giochi un ruolo cruciale nella progettazione di spazi pubblici e nella riqualificazione urbana contribuendo a creare ambienti più vivibili e inclusivi.

Costellazioni, tempo, trasformazione, respiro, crescita, legami, divertimento, complessità, ricchezza, riconnettere, costruzione, sono solo alcune delle parole proposte dai partecipanti ai laboratori: tasselli di quel variegato mosaico che è l’identità di nòva.

È un'artista visiva e un'educatrice che vive a Orta San Giulio (IT) e Istanbul (TR). Lavora principalmente nel campo dell'arte socialmente impegnata, coinvolgendo e collaborando con diversi gruppi sociali in contesti diversi. I suoi progetti riguardano i desideri e le aspirazioni delle persone. Promuove la produzione collettiva come esperienza condivisa che porta i gruppi a raggiungere un obiettivo comune. Segue il lavoro curatoriale di PASAJ, uno spazio artistico indipendente e un programma di residenza artistica a Istanbul, che ha co-fondato.

The language composed of the logograms of Interstizi. A Shared Identity is one that begins where words come to an end.

A collective gesture guided by the artist Seçil Yaylalı, made up of logograms created by those who pass through Nòva, each carrying a personal meaning, connected to their own way of inhabiting the space, recognizing themselves within the community, and telling their own story.

Each sign is a world.

Together, these signs form a new language: a visual grammar made up of memories, affections, tensions, and possibilities. A language that does not pre-exist, but is continuously becoming.

Interstizi. A Shared Identity is a process.
It is proof that forms can emerge through listening, that drawing can become an encounter, and that identity can be multiple and shared. Nòva thus becomes a place of collective storytelling, not through spoken words, but through signs that resemble us.

Beginning with the workshops held in March and April with those who experience Nòva as audience members, volunteers, and staff, Seçil Yaylalı transformed words, emotions, and relationships into logograms: each sign in Interstizi contributes to the creation of a shared visual lexicon. The elements of the collective installation were then produced in Nòva's Maker Space using laser-cut coloured plexiglass.

As is characteristic of her artistic practice, Yaylalı entered the Nòva community with great sensitivity, inhabiting its "social interstices"—those relational spaces that the French critic Nicolas Bourriaud identified as the fertile ground of participatory art—in order to listen. According to Bourriaud, the artwork becomes a device for generating encounters and dialogue, shifting attention from the final product to the relational process itself. These spaces of encounter transform the creative process into a shared experience, offering an opportunity to reflect on oneself, on one's relationship with space, and with the people who inhabit it.

"Art is a set of interpersonal practices that unfold within the social space and contribute to improving the collective experience of reality." From this perspective, it becomes clear how a participatory aesthetic plays a crucial role in the design of public spaces and in urban regeneration, helping to create environments that are more liveable and inclusive.

Constellations, time, transformation, breath, growth, connections, play, complexity, richness, reconnection, construction, are just some of the words proposed by the workshop participants: fragments of the richly varied mosaic that is Nòva's identity.

She is a visual artist and educator living between Orta San Giulio (Italy) and Istanbul (Turkey). She works primarily in the field of socially engaged art, involving and collaborating with diverse social groups in different contexts. Her projects explore people's desires and aspirations. She promotes collective production as a shared experience that enables groups to work towards a common goal. She is part of the curatorial team of PASAJ, an independent art space and artist residency programme in Istanbul, which she co-founded.
