L’idea di Minatori del Suono Fest parte da granito e scalpellini, parole che raccontano a fondo la storia di Madonna del Sasso e l’attività – pericolosa e durissima – che ha profondamente segnato la vita dei suoi abitanti per più di un secolo, dai primi decenni dell’Ottocento alla seconda metà del secolo scorso. Sono proprio i “picasass”, gli artigiani della pietra che lavoravano il granito estratto dalle cave locali, che hanno reso famosa la tradizione di queste zone. Minatori del Suono Fest infatti non è solo bella musica, è anche cultura, territorio, socialità: concerti e live set, apertura del Museo dello Scalpellino, talk, escursioni, laboratori, campeggio.
Nelle due edizioni del festival, 2023 e 2024, abbiamo portato sul lago d'Orta un’iniziativa che è stata occasione di aggregazione, apertura, inclusività e rinnovo culturale: un festival musicale che ha puntato su un programma sorprendente e di qualità, destinato a un pubblico variegato, capace di coinvolgere la cittadinanza locale nelle sue varie fasce d’età e di attrarre appassionati e curiosi non solo dalle zone limitrofe ma anche dai centri urbani, invertendo così la dinamica che tipicamente porta soprattutto i giovani dai territori periferici verso le città.

The idea behind Minatori del Suono Fest ("Sound Miners Fest") stems from granite and stonecutters, words that profoundly embody the history of Madonna del Sasso and the demanding, dangerous work that shaped the lives of its inhabitants for more than a century, from the early decades of the nineteenth century to the second half of the twentieth. It was the picasass—the skilled stonemasons who worked the granite extracted from the local quarries—who made the area's craftsmanship renowned. Minatori del Suono Fest is not only about great music; it is also about culture, place, and community: concerts and live sets, the opening of the Stonecutter's Museum, talks, hikes, workshops, and camping.

Through the festival's first two editions, in 2023 and 2024, we brought to Lake Orta an initiative that became an opportunity for gathering, openness, inclusivity, and cultural renewal: a music festival built around a surprising, high-quality programme designed for a diverse audience, capable of engaging the local community across generations while attracting enthusiasts and curious visitors not only from the surrounding area but also from nearby cities, thus reversing the usual dynamic that tends to draw young people away from peripheral territories and towards urban centres.
